Countless compositions for organ are written on the German Christmas hymn 'Gelobet seist du, Jesu Christ'. In this video I present 8 pieces by Buxtehude, J.S. Bach, Pachelbel, Kirnberger, Böhm and Walther. It's nice to notice how different or similar baroque contemporaries in Germany treated the same hymn. Of course Bach's famous setting BWV 604 couldn't miss, I recorded two versions with different registrations and tempi.
I used the sample set of the Metzler organ (2010) of the Annakirche in Düren, sampled by Piotr Grabowski. The typical Metzler baroque stops are there, but Metzler added some French romantic stops. I didn't completely avoid them with the recording of these pieces.
The time stamps of the pieces are in the timeline of the video.
