Thousands of organists probably will play Bach's setting on 'Das alte Jahr vergangen ist', BWV 614 from Das Orgelbüchlein. And rightly so, it's a wonderful piece. After I recorded BWV 614, I came across a fine chorale prelude by Johann Gottfried Walther on the same hymn. Walther only uses the first line of the chorale in this piece, so it's a perfect prelude for Bach's BWV 614, in which Bach treats the entire chorale melody.

As you may know I often like to record two versions of one piece in which tempi and registrations differ. In this case a slow version with a soft registration (tremolo included) and a version with a somewhat stronger registration.

The time stamps of the three pieces are in the timeline of the video.
