Partitura Organum has published some very nice editions of chorale preludes by Georg Andreas Sorge. I guess most organists know German composer and organist Sorge from his organ trios. I can highly recommend looking into other organ works from him.
This chorale prelude is on the hymn 'Jesum lieb ich ewiglich', which has the same melody as the more famous hymn 'Meinen Jesum lass ich nicht'. I first thought this was another verse of 'Meinen Jesum lass ich nicht', but it wasn't. I couldn't find the hymn text of this particular hymn anywhere on the web. It's quite possible I haven't searched well enough. If someones knows the hymn text, please share it in the comments.
In this piece Sorge uses a canonic form. Each phrase of the chorale melody is canonically answered in the bass or in the alto voice.
Played on the small Riepp organ model of Ottobeuren. We hear a lot uploads on the big Riepp these past months and rightly so, but let's not forget this jewel of an organ.
