ENGLISH TRANSLATION OF CHORALE:
1.Lord God, now unlock your heaven.
My time has come to its end.
I have finished my course, and so my soul rejoices.
I have suffered enough, and struggled to the point of exhaustion.
Send me quickly to my eternal rest.
Letting go of what is on earth, I would rather be in heaven.

2. As You have commanded me, Lord,
I have with true faith embraced my dear Saviour
and I calmly look at you in death.
God, I want to pass from this valley of tears,
and be made new rejoicing in your presence.
Letting go of what is on earth, I would rather be in heaven.

3. Then let me go like Simeon to you, Lord, in peace.
Commend me to Christ your Son,
and he will keep me safe.
He will lead me on the path through the gates of heaven.
In this hope I calmly pass away.
Letting go of what is on earth, I would rather be in heaven.
