Description: | Here now is a sonata based on one of my song settings from 2018.
I took advantage of the carnival weekend to compose a large-scale fugue to the beautiful
melody. Despite living in one of the carnival strongholds of the Rhineland, I have
nothing - and I really mean nothing - to do with carnival ...
An 8-minute sonata was created, which has a 3-part form. A song movement, very much oriented to the
melody, forms the opening of the piece. We hear the beautiful Noeske organ in Kassel Niederzwehren.
This is followed by a trio that is registered quite thinly.
Part 3 is then - as already announced - an initially 3-part fugue, finally 4-part in the coda.
It takes several attempts before the coda begins, each of which is concluded with a cadenza.
A short pause is then used consistently to change the voices. I play on the Midi channel 2, which in this organ
a coupling of Hauptwerk and Positiv. Through the coupling, I have all the stops at my disposal, which I can then combine very well.
The arrangement of the romantic fugue theme leads harmonically through the circle of fifths. The change of key is achieved partly through strict modulation, but also partly through surprising reversals.
The fugue theme is original, in inversion, and in the direction from back to front.
A powerful organ point in the pedal, first on the dominant and then on the tonic, concludes the fugue, which is now heard on the full organ. Also with full organ, the song movement is performed once more.
In contrast to my composition of 2018, I have clearly reduced the tempo, which benefits the song movement and the romantic mood. |
