Allan Leslie McDougall (b. 1948) — Willochra Carillon (2019) for organ
Australian composer Allan Leslie McDougall (b. 1948) studied the organ part-time while a university science student and was awarded the E. Harold Davies Scholarship and Norman Chinner Scholarship at the Elder Conservatorium, University of Adelaide. In his primary career, he worked as a high school chemistry teacher, an Attack Class patrol boat Commanding Officer in the Royal Australian Naval Reserve, and the State Emergency Management Training Officer for the South Australia State Emergency Management Organisation. He received the Emergency Services Medal from the Australian government in the Queen’s Birthday Honors of 2003. McDougall continued actively playing the organ and composing. Two of his Christmas carols have been performed by the Adelaide Harmony Choir and one appeared on the choir’s CD “Carols Under the Cross.”
