Prélude from Op.4

The first movement from the Prélude, Adagio et Choral varié sur le thème du "Veni Creator". An unseasonal choice to upload but if it is all to be ready for Pentecost, I need lots of lead time for this piece! This a kind of tribute to a recently deceased friend (Oct.2020), Stephen Cooke (organ builder, tuner, organist). He adored Duruflé, this work especially, and he and I turned pages and pulled stops for Philip Scriven when he played the final movement at a recital in St Martin's Church, Salisbury. Stephen died in a motorcycle accident and the tone of this Prélude (especially the final bars) is an appropriate mark of respect.
