This organ transcription was published in a collection of chorale preludes and other pieces opus 16 (no. 9).
Johannes Barend Litzau (1822-1893) was a Rotterdam organist, first in the Anglo-Presbyterian church and then in the Lutheran church. As a great admirer of the old masters, he could not appreciate the modern French symphonic organ style of his days.
