This organ mass was originally published posthumously in the op 35 collection. Only the manuscript of the Duo has come down to us (this of course does mean to say that there are no unknown manuscripts in private collections in existence), and this is dated to 15 November 1834, when Boely was organist at Saint-Gervais. The mention of a Bombarde manual in the Dernier Kyrie and the absence of the registration marking "Plein Jeu" in the plain chants may also suggest that this was written with the organ of St Gervais in mind.
