ENGLISH TRANSLATION OF CHORALE
1. Now shining is that splendid day.
for which no one can celebrate enough.
Christ our Lord has now triumphed,
and leads all his enemies captive.
Hallelujah!
2. The ancient snake, sin, and death,
Hell, all misery, anxiety, and poverty
Jesus Christ has mortally wounded,
and today has resurrected from death.
Hallelujah!
9. Death must now give back its spoils.
Life wins and becomes Death’s master,
Its might is now completely destroyed;
for Christ has brought back life again.
Hallelujah!
14. Therefore we rejoice with our burdens lifted.
We sing out: Hallelujah,
and offer praises to You, Lord Jesus Christ.
for your resurrection has become our hope!
Hallelujah!
