The first of a set of five 'short choral preludes' by Dame Ethel Smyth (1858-1944). Written in a Baroque style with more than a touch of Brahms, this beautiful piece was written in 1884 and published in 1913. The Choral text is by Johann Franck and roughly translates as 'Thou, O fair and wondrous earth, let who will in thee rejoice'. Smyth dedicated it to her friend, Sir Walter Parrott.
The set were published in 2017 by Fitzjohn Music Publications and edited by David Patrick. I bought my copy from Banks Music.
I'm using Blackburn's Great 8' & 4' flutes for the melody and the Positif Salicional 8' for the accompaniment. Soft 16' and 8' in the pedal.
