Allegretto from Five Short Pieces

The first piece in Percy Whitlock's set of Five Short Pieces, the Allegretto differs from the better known Folk Tune and Andante Tranquillo in being somewhat more chromatic. In this piece, Whitlock's time as a theatre organist comes through and we also see the influence of his writing for orchestra which has been described as being generally in a "lighter" mode.
