ENGLISH TRANSLATION OF CHORALE:
1.I call to You, Lord Jesus Christ!
I beg, hear my complaint!
Grant me grace at this time;
Do not let me despair!
I ask you, Lord, to give me a pure faith:
To live for you, help my neighbor,
And keep Your Word faithfully.

2.I ask even more, O Lord God,
and you can grant this:
that I shall never again be mocked,
and along with these things, give me the hope
- in advance of the time when I have to depart -
that I may trust in you,
and not rely on my own works,
which would bring eternal regret.

3.Grant that from the bottom of my heart
I may forgive my enemies;
forgive me also at this hour,
and make me a new creation;
let your word always be my food
with which to nourish my soul
and defend myself
when misfortune comes upon me
that might quickly lead me astray.

4.Let no pleasure or fear
in this world turn me away from you,
Give me endurance until the end,
for you alone have it in your power,
and whoever you give it to receives it freely.
No one through their works can inherit or acquire
your grace that saves us from death.

5.Though I live amongst strife, I resist evil.
Help me, o Lord Christ, in my weakness!
To your grace alone I cling,
for you can make me strong.
If temptation now comes, Lord, defend me,
so that I may not be overthrown.
You can limit it so that it brings no danger to me;
I know you will never allow that. Amen.
