1. When we are in deepest need
And do not know where to turn,
And find neither help nor counsel,
Though we search anxiously day and night,

2. Then this alone is our comfort,
That gathered together
We may call on you, Our faithful God,
For rescue from fear and distress.

4. You promise graciously
To everyone who asks you
In the name of your son Jesus Christ,
Who is our salvation and intercessor.

5. Therefore we come, O Lord God,
And present to you all our troubles,
Because we are now standing helpless
Before great tribulation and danger.

6. Look not at our sins,
But Gracefully absolve us from them.
Encourage us in our deep anguish,
And free us at last from all evil,

7. So that with all our hearts we may
Thank you again with joy,
And be obedient to your word,
As we praise you both now and forevermore.
