Heinrich Wettstein was born January 1, 1868 in Gotha and died April 17, 1934. He worked as a teacher and organist in Magdeburg.
He has written several sizeable organ pieces, among them this fantasie about the famous Reformation hymn "Ein feste Burg ist unser Gott" / "A mighty fortress is our god".
It is a piece which satisfies the expectations of the educated middle class, developing the thematic material from the famous reformation hymn and the equally famous Halleluja chorus of Händeö.
I had hoped, to post this piece for reformation day, but sometimes work assignments take over..
