Christlieb Siegmund Binder was a German composer, organist and harpsichordist. He was mainly active in Dresden during his lifetime. He played keyboard in the Hofkapelle from 1751. From 1764 he was organist of the Hofkirche Dresden.

This Praeludium is part of a collection of 72 preludes for organ and/or harpsichord. In the second part of this collection is a prelude (no. 8) on the hymn 'Wer nur den lieben Gott lässt walten'.
