John A. Behnke (b. 1953) — Prelude and Fugue in G minor (2021) for organ
John A. Behnke (b. 1953) was educated at Concordia University-River Forest, Illinois and Northwestern University (where he received his M. Mus. and D. Mus.) He also studied at the Westphalian Church Music Institute in Herford, Germany. Behnke is Emeritus Professor of Music of Concordia University, in Mequon, Wisconsin where for 29 years he taught organ, church music courses, and directed the Alleluia Ringers, Concordia’s touring handbell choir. For many years he was also the organist and choir director at Historic Trinity Ev. Lutheran Church in downtown Milwaukee. Behnke is a widely published composer and arranger with over 450 handbell, choral, and organ compositions in print from more than 17 publishers in the USA, Germany, and Taiwan. An active clinician especially in the field handbells, Behnke also served as the music editor for AGEHR Publishing, the publishing house of Handbell Musicians of America.
