This is a through-composed setting of three verses of "Silent Night" for the organ, based on the composer's version for SATB Chorus, Solo Soprano and Descant. (For more information about David Conte, see here: https://www.davidconte.net/biography.) Verses 1 and 3 share similar lush harmonic settings while varying in registrations, and the middle verse features a 2' descant in the pedal. The descant then becomes the bass line in verse 3.
The lovely and rich flutes and strings of the Melbourne Town Hall Organ highly complement this lush meditation on a Christmas classic.
