Op. 9 No. 29
Here is a sonata that has nothing remotely to do with Christmas .....
Landesvater - Alles schweige! Jeder neige ernsten Tönen nun sein Ohr!
Landesvater - All silence! Everyone incline his ear to serious tones
ear!
Oh my, what sounds these are that saw the light of day before 1770. When I think of 1770, I always think of ... ? Exactly, Beethoven's year of birth! But I digress ......
The Lahrer Kommersbuch is full of these "folk" songs that hardly anyone dares to sing today. But back then there was a permanent war with everyone and knives were sharpened and firearms loaded on all sides. And then you just sing the way you sing when you go to war.
I'll spare you the whole text, but if you're interested, you can find more information here:

Despite the problematic text, the melody is beautiful, as is the case with many songs from the Allgemeines Deutsches Kommersbuch (Lahrer Kommersbucg).
The sonata is again in three parts, 4-part song movement, trio (3-part song movement) and a 2-part fugue for 4 voices on the very heroic and festive-sounding theme, the melody of the song.
Have fun with it now!
