This is the second piece of Speth's ouevre from 1693, Ars Magna Consoni et Dissoni. The second toccata of 10 in g minor has three parts.
Part one is chorale like with long sustained chords, plenty of suspensions, and very little figurations. It modulates to the dominant by the end. I used only the 8' principal in the great.
Part two switches to a 6/4 time signature, and it features hemiolas. By the end the key has modulated back to G. I performed this section with a brisker tempo and on an 8' and 2' registration.
Part three, now in the tonic once more, shifts back to a slow adagio like the opening in common time, but this section is far more fluid. There are plenty of moving notes, and I added ornamentation.
I used the extended keyboard version, but unstable wind supply of this organ sample. The original tuning makes for some very nice undulating beats in the slow chorale section that is just lovely.
