Description:
This March is a part of the Overture to Handel's 'An Occasional Oratorio'. The Occasional Oratorio is unique among Handel's works which he labelled "oratorio" in that it does not tell a story or contain elements of a drama, but was intended as a defiant and patriotic rallying piece. This march certainly has that patriotic feel.
I've found quite some transcriptions, probably the most famous is the one by William Thomas Best, who transcribed many pieces by Handel for organ, clearly in a romantic way. This transcription by Benjamin Righetti keeps things more sober in a nice and delicate way. It starts as a duo, but wait till the earpiercing chamades kick in... You could also play the three stave parts with full organ, but I turned it more into a trumpet tune.
