The melody is by August Wilhelm Briesewitz, who lived from 1810 to 1876, the lyrics by a certain Salomon from 1834. Let's leave it at that ...... The composition is once again in 3 parts, this time with an extremely expansive fugue that lasts over 6 minutes.
