Description: | Charles Avison (1710-1770) was born in Newcastle-on-Tyne, studied in Italy, and was appointed organist of Newcastle cathedral in 1736 [see comment by Paul Ritchie for corrections]. His "concerto" was written for performance by strings, organ or harpsichord and arranged by Clifford Harker in 1937, with the the Air taken from an earlier concerto.
