Description: | In this upload I present to you the triptych Drei Choralfundierte Stueckchen by P.D.Q. Bach (18-7-1742)? The registrations called for in this collection are indeed unique, as they are based on the organ of King Congregational Church in Fayray, N.D., which consists of two lap-top Casio keyboards (so two manuals), and no pedal board.
First, we have the chorale piece called "Orally." (This is better known as the tune Aura Lea, and even better known as Elvis' Love Me Tender.) It is to be played on string ensemble the first time through, and then on the oboes with vibrato the second time.
The next "chorale" is a fitting upload for Labor Day in the United States: Chorale Prelude on an American Hymn for the Last Sunday Before the Fourth Day of the Seventh Month After New Year's Eve. (Again, to most people, this tune is better known by another name, Yankee Doodle Dandy.) The editor, Professor Peter Schickele, insists it be played on a Celesta with vibrato and sustain pedal, with a middle part played on plucked mandolins. I've done what I can here, with the limitations of this organ, folks. Melbourne Town Hall has nearly 200 stops, but no mandolin.
Finally, part 3 consists of Chorale Variation on "In der Nacht so hell, der Petrus ist mein Freund." Again, I've taken liberties with registrations. Melbourne has amazing string ensembles, of course the organ with tremulant, and other solo instruments like oboe and clarinet. Sadly, I had to find substitutions for Synth Fuzz, Accordion, Xylophone, and Funny.
Enjoy, everyone! :) |
