Composer: Tauscher, H.W.
Sample Producer: Sonus Paradisi
Sample Set: Laurenskerk - Main Organ - 1973 Marcussen & Son
Software: Hauptwerk VII
Genre: Classicism
Description:
Not much can be found of the German composer H.W. Tauscher. At least, I couldn't find anything about him, except his years of birth and death: 1760-1843. I'm not sure if these years are correct. Judging by these years he lived as adult in the classical and (early) romantic period. I don't know when this piece on the hymn 'Jesu meine Freude' was written, but it appeard in the Orgel Journal in 1835. Of course it could have been written earlier than 1835. This piece sounds to me quite baroque/style galante.
This piece has the cantus firmus in canon, which you don't see every day. Of course Johann Sebastian Bach is famous for using the chorale melody in canon in several chorale preludes.
