This is the final movement of the organ suite which I first heard on an old LP by Caleb Jarvis playing on St George's Hall, Liverpool. It left a lasting impression and whilst I don't much like the rest of the suite, I reckon that the Toccata is a rather wonderful piece.
It requires a fairly big organ and it is definitely not for organists with short legs since the pedal stretches are quite extreme and it's difficult not to fall off the bench.
Paul De Maleingreau was Belgian and both studied and later became organ professor at the Brussels Conservatory. He left a moderate output of organ music much of it based on Gregorian chant.
