Ouverture nach Französischer Art BWV 831 (aus: Zweyter Theil der Clavier Uebung)
I. [Ouverture]
II. Courante
III. Gavotte I - Gavotte II - Gavotte I da capo
IV. Passepied I - Passepied II - Passepied II da capo
V. Sarabande
VI. Bourrée I - Bourrée II - Bourré I da capo
VII. Gigue
VIII. Echo
I have listened to many performances of this magnificent piece: all performers - even Gustav Leonhardt - tryed to give the first movement a "French dressing".
The result. The music sounds not glear and corrupted and wrong arranged in its rhythm.
Bach knew the French style very well, and he wrote exactly what one should play without being familar with the French Baroque praxis of performance..
