Harpsichord/Organ works by Böhm on the Paul Ott organ
On his website, AB describes this Paul Ott organ as one:
"of very small dimensions but with a particularly rich stop list, which allows you to deal with a rather vast repertoire for an instrument of this kind; the intonation is perfectly balanced, fresh and light and is very closely reminiscent of a classic Trühenorgel - which makes the Ott positive perfectly suited to continuo.
And it is precisely in this perspective that we propose it: as a small instrument for the continuo and for the vast harpsichord-organ repertoire that finds in the lightness, variety and balance of its sounds a very effective means of expression."
Thus, after explorations of the organ from my own perspective in earlier uploads, here I provide some works by Georg Böhm that can be played on both harpsichord and organ. I found these in my Kalmus edition of the complete organ works of Georg Boehm. Though they are included in this organ collection, I suspect they are really more for harpsichord than organ; the title of this section in the music is “Klavier-Suiten.” Also, I’ve never heard these recorded on the organ, only the harpsichord.
Nevertheless, I present them to you on the organ, here. Moreover, I’ve included an Easter egg, or bonus track, at the front end. The same owner of the Paul Ott organ, Gabriele Gunchi, has a spinet built by Robert Marioni that AB sampled with multiple perspectives. I play the sole minuet in the collection of organ works on this “mini-harpsichord-like” instrument before I launch into the suite in a moll on the organ.
