Description: | As promised in the last upload -- https://www.contrebombarde.com/concerthall/music/61926 -- here is a version of the intermezzo for organ. I chose the Hildesheim Beckerath in order to showcase just how different an approach you have to take with the piece played on a larger instrument versus the smaller ones. I have found that you can approach the portativs and other smaller organs similarly to the harpsichord.
However, on a large instrument in a cavernous space, things change. Major differences of course include that one is able to change tonal colors completely, and the tempo is a little bit more relaxed as the room has a significant amount of reverb.
For me, I like the harpsichord version more than this one, honestly. Despite choosing interesting colors here and a thinner, lighter, transparent registration, the harpsichord version seems to dance a bit more, which appeals to me. |
