L'Allegro, il Penseroso ed il Moderato (The Cheerful, the Thoughtful and the Moderate Man) is a pastoral ode by George Frideric Handel based on the poetry of John Milton. Pierre Gouin made an organ transcription of the final chorus of this piece, which works very well I think.
To me it sounds like Handel used the theme of the hymn 'Christe qui lux es et dies' several times. I couldn't find more information on that, or is it just a coincidence? Which is hard to believe, since Handel clearly knew this hymn, growing up in Germany.
