| Description: | Nicolas Jacques Lemmens (1821-1881) was a Belgian organist, composer, and organ teacher. He was introduced to the Bach tradition by one of his teachers, Adolf-Friedrich Hesse. He taught several important figures of the French romantic organ school, counting among his pupils Joseph Callaerts, Clément Loret, Alphonse Mailly, Alexandre Guilmant, and Charles-Marie Widor.
This Fanfare is one of his best-known organ pieces and is a precursor to a plethora of French romantic Toccatas to come. |
