Prière (Six Pièces)

September's Franck of the month is, for me the hardest of all Franck, his enigmatic, beautiful and soul-searching Priere.

In every aspect I think this is a challenging piece, but is worth every moment of study and quiet thoughtfulness that is required to try to get to the heart of it.

I have tried to avoid the potentially over sentimental approach, but I hope that it has sufficient poetry and, indeed prayerfulness.

I would like to dedicate this to the memory of Martin Neary who sadly died on Saturday (27/09/25). He was a tremendous church musician and I am grateful for the time that he gave me during my formative years. I hope this is a fitting tribute to him.
