Johann Sebastian Bach composed the church cantata 'Schwingt freudig euch empor', BWV 36 in 1731 in Leipzig for the First Sunday of Advent. For several parts he used pieces he composed earlier. The sixth part is a choral for orchestra and tenor on the 6th couplet 'Der du bist dem Vater gleich' of the Advent hymn 'Nun komm, der Heiden Heiland'. Peter Baekgaard made a beautiful transcription for organ trio with the cantus firmus in the pedals.
