| Description: | A little "Schubler" to further demonstrate the colours of this excellent instrument.
BWV 646 is the second in this set, based on the hymn "Wo soll ich fliehen hin" by Johann Heermann (1630). The hymn deals with the profound anguish of a sinner seeking refuge from guilt and the fear of death. The text asks: "Whither shall I flee, troubled as I am by so many sins? Where shall I find rescue?".
While five of the six Schübler chorales have clearly identified cantata sources, BWV 646 is the exception, as its source model has not been found. However, scholars assume it is a transcription from a now-lost cantata, likely written in Weimar or early Leipzig.
The lh on the flutes 16',8',4' of the HW are matched by the characterful Quintadena and 4' flute combination of OW and the clear 4' reed on the pedal.
