Samuel de Lange was a prolific composer, pianist, and organist.
Born in Rotterdam, he studied in Vienna and Lemberg (now Lviv). He was a renowned organ virtuoso and taught at several conservatories across Europe, eventually settling in Stuttgart where he served as the director of the Royal Conservatory.His catalog includes over 800 compositions. His style was deeply influenced by Bach, Beethoven, and his close friend Johannes Brahms, remaining largely independent of the "New German School" of Wagner and Liszt
