Alessandro Esposito (1913-1981) was a prominent Italian organist, composer, teacher and a key figure in 20th-century organ music.
Education and Teaching Career
He began his training at the "Donizetti" Institute in Bergamo under Agostino Donini, later graduating from the "Giuseppe Verdi" Conservatory in Milan between 1933 and 1940.
In the early 1940s, he attended Fernando Germani’s masterclasses at the Accademia Chigiana in Siena, an institution where he later became a professor himself.
He held the chair of Organ and Organ Composition at several prestigious conservatories:
- Bolzano: At the "Claudio Monteverdi" Conservatory from 1941 to 1951.
- Florence: At the "Luigi Cherubini" Conservatory from 1951 until his death.
