| Description: | Here's a beautiful gem from the great master, which I think is very appropriate for Lent - Bach's Wo soll ich fliehen hin trio arranged by Schubler. It is built on a lilting and motoric theme in the right hand, which the left hand imitates in counterpoint all the way through, whith the wonderful German melody underpinning it in the pedal. I was influenced in my approach by Wim Van Beek playing the wonderful Green Monster Arp Schnitger organ of the Martinikerk Groningen - a wonderful gentle, calm sound. I used the Stralsund Stellwagen for this, as it has such beautiful colour to it's stops! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yux6IbZBUkw
The text of the chorale: (in Anglo Saxon!)
Where should I fly from here
since I am burdened
with many great sins?
Where can I find rescue?
If everybody in the world came to help,
they would not take away my anguish.
Oh Jesus, full of mercy,
at your command and counsel
my troubled soul comes
to your great kindness:
on my conscience let
a little drop of your mercy fall.
I would like to thank WillF for introducing me to this piece, and inspiring me to learn it!!!!
Good listening: I hope you enjoy!! |
