Acclamations Carolingiennes - 'Christus Vincit' (Finale from the Suite Médiévale op. 56) - Jean Langlais (1907-1991)
I heard this impressive organ piece as a young boy in our parish church. The organist at the time, François Riat, often played Langlais as the final piece at festive services.
I liked Langlais's organ music so much that shortly after starting as a part-time organist in that very church, I began playing his music.
However, I only started learning the Acclamations last December. After tearing a tendon in my right knee, I couldn't use my right leg for the pedals for several weeks. I was practically able to work out the Acclamations using only my left leg. Now, however, I can play the pedals with both legs again.
I find that the sampleset Aristide No.1 Version 2 is ideally suited for playing Langlais music.
