Jan Albert van Eyken (Johannes Albertus van Eijken) was a Dutch composer and organist. He was born in Amersfoort in 1824 and studied organ with Carl Ferdinand Becker (1804–1877), theory and composition with Mendelssohn from 1845 to 1846 at Leipzig. He then spent a year studying with the Dresden court organist Johann Schneider (1789–1864).
At the end of 1846, he returned to the Netherlands and gave organ recitals in several cities. He then held organist positions in Amsterdam and Rotterdam and earned a reputation as one of the best organists in the country. Reviews were enthusiastic, praising above all the clarity of his playing and his outstanding manual and pedal technique. As early as 1854, he took a position in Germany at the Alte Reformierte Kirche at Elberfeld (now a district of Wuppertal), where he remained until his death in 1868.
