Another beautiful Renaissance piece on the versatile Poblet Metzler: Magnificat 8. Toni, SSWV 147 by Samuel Scheidt (baptized 3 November 1587 – died 24 March 1654).
In my edition there are 6 verses, and the 5th verse in 3 variations (5a, 5b and 5c). I decided to play 5a, because I think it's the most interesting one ...
1. Versus "Et exultavit" (
00:00), played on the RP plenum, the stronger stops of the Unterwerk and concluded on the Hauptwerk plenum
2. Versus "Quia fecit" (
02:18), cf played on the Vox Humana (UW)
3. Versus "Fecit potentium" (
03:38), a dialogue between Sesquialter (RP) and the Reeds of the Unterwerk
4. Versus "Esurientes" (
04:59), played on the Unterwerk
5. Versus "Sicut locutus" (
06:38), played on the HW Plenum, cf in Bass
6. Versus = Chorale (
08:34), played on Plena HW, RP and Ped
Enjoy!
