Elegiac Serenade Op 156 No 7

Viktoras Kuprevičius (January 27, 1901 in Tioplyj Stan, Russia - April 1, 1992 in Kaunas) - Lithuanian composer, carillon player, pedagogue.

He was born in the settlement of Tioplyj Stan (now Samara region ). 1921 - 1924 he studied at Kaunas Music School .

1923 - 1943 While working as the responsible secretary at the Kaunas State History Museum , together with Paulius Galauna , he organized and participated in folk art research expeditions; supervised the musical design of the works of the Kaunas Radiophone and Film Studio.

1943–1950 Concertmaster, leader and conductor of the Kaunas Young Audience Theater .
1946-1950 Kaunas State University lecturer.
1952 - 1957 Teacher of J. Jablonskis secondary school in Kaunas and leader of art self-activity groups.

In 1956 he restored the tower carillon of the War Museum. Since 1957 he performed in Kaunas with his son Giedris Kuprevičius, played the carillon of Magdeburg (GDR) several times.

He composed about 300 songs, works for the carillon, music for drama performances and movies. He created the opera "Ziogas ir skruzdės" (1942 , libretto by A. Nakaitė), the radio operetta "Paukščių koncertas" (1942, libretto by Peter Babick ), the operetta "Pasoga" (1943), the cantata "Soviet Lietuva" ( 1951, words by Valerijas Valsiūnienes ), the ballet "The Shepherdess and Chimneys" ( 1955 , libretto by A. Bajorienes).
