“The Introduction and Allegro uses a harmonic language closer to that of Messiaen and is also more rhythmically varied than any previous piece of mine - it was composed as a kind of riposte to Messiaen’s Dieu Parmi nous….both were included at the beginning and end of my contribution to EMI’s Great Cathedral Organ series in 1966”
Here we have the final recording of the three VISION again using the thrilling brilliance of the Blackburn Cathedral sample set. It fits like a glove! Sadly there is no recording of Arthur playing it on the post-rebuild Ely organ but there is a recording by his former assistant organist, the brilliant Jeremy Filsell which can be found on Apple Music.
