Description: | This is a quite old recording, created in January 2007 originally intented as a giveaway on my grandpas funeral.
At that time, with my first steps on Hauptwerk, I had created a 64 stop composite organ out of almost all available free sample sets, including a Glockenspiel. I do not know the exact registration for that piece, but it was something with 8'+4' Flute as melody and 8' as accompment. The trumpet is from St.Anne, the Glockenspiel 4' borrowed from Leo Christophersons Carrilon. I later added some reverb with CoolEdit to the quite dry sound to make it more cathedral-like.
I played this piece at the end of my grandpas funeral (by his own request). In preparation of this my family asked me if I could record it, so we could send a Mini-CD with the "Thank-You"-cards. We never did this, but the recording still makes me smile because of all the good memories - including building my model railroad together with him and he driving me to the church so I could practice. He also is responsible for my idea of playing Jazz on a church organ - about 4 months before his death I found a music book of Glenn Miller at the local music store and remembered him beeing a fan of that music. So I bought it, and practiced it on the piano, but later when I had the pleasure of playing a Hammond C3 i played it on that. And that gave me the Idea to try it at the church... |
