Description:
Johan-Magnus Sjöberg (b. 1953) — Triptych for Organ (2011)

Triptych for Organ (2011) is in three brief movements. In the first movement, Allegro, intrada-like outer sections surround a middle section based on repeated, parallel chords. In the second movement, Largo, a lyrical aria surrounds a middle section reminiscent of the “tintinnabuli” music of Arvo Pärt. The final movement, Postlude (Allegro), with its irregular meters, brings the triptych to a jaunty conclusion.

Johan-Magnus Sjöberg (b. 1953) was born in Östra Grevie, Sweden, and attended the municipal music school in Växjö. He received his Cantor’s Certificate in 1975, after which he attended the choir leader course at the Malmö College of Music. He is now active as a composer and conductor. His numerous compositions have been performed throughout Europe.
