Albert de Klerk (1917-1998) was an important Dutch composer and organist. Since he was 16 Years until his death, he was organist at the Adema organ of St Joseph's Church in Haarlem. Although he was a Catholic, he was also from 1956 to 1982 organist of the famous Müller organ of the Grote of Sint-Bavokerk, together with Piet Kee.
I had the joy, during master classes in the early nineties,to personally experience Albert de Klerk and his improvisations, which was always "ready for press".
The small cycle for 3rd Sunday of Advent includes the pieces:
Ante Introitum
Post Offertorium
Post Communionem
Post Benedictionem
This is a meditative music, that interrupts only gently the quiet time of the Advent. It lives entirely from the melodies of Gregorian chant.
