The Nicholson organ in Schagen’s St Christoforus Church is now widely regarded as one of the finest romantic organs in the Netherlands. The organ was built in 1882 by English organ builder John Nicholson for St Mary Magdalene in Worcester. In 1981, it found a new use in Schagen. Romantic organ literature that is often impossible or difficult to perform elsewhere sounds excellent on this instrument in this space. The church (Alfred Tepe,1882) sounds like a cathedral with a reverb of about 6 seconds. |
