Carlotta Ferrari (b. 1975) — Shiva (Meditazione per organo solo) (2005) for organ
“Shiva” (2005) is subtitled “meditation for solo organ.” A simple, song-like ritornello returns between five lyric strophes, reminiscent of medieval monody. The composer writes: "This piece was born from an idea: that is God is unique for all human beings (hence the Eastern title and the Western language mixed together). The five strophes represent the five faces of Shiva, another reference to the multiple nature of the divine."
Carlotta Ferrari (b. 1975) is an Italian composer, organist, singer, and musical therapist. Educated at the Conservatory in Milan, she has composed in many genres. Her “Operatic Suite on Melodies of Verdi” has been performed around the world by the Bruno-Valcepina piano duet. Ferrari’s music appears on several CD recordings.
