Software: | Hauptwerk IV |
Genre: | Hymn |
Description: | A wonderful melody of suffering and death by an unknown French (?) composer.
The original text is by Eugene Bersier (1831-1889)
Dutch poet Jan Wit (1914-1980) wrote the very fine Dutch text to it.
It is in the Dutch hymnal and counts 10 verses, of which I played the first two only.
The introductory chorale prelude is by Johan van Dommele.
Harmonizations and short postludium by Johann Lemckert, former organist of the Laurenskerk Rotterdam.
Jezus, om Uw lijden groot,
om Uw leven en Uw dood,
die volbrengen 't recht van God,
Kyrie Eleison
Heer, om Uw zachtmoedigheid,
vorst die op een ezel rijdt
en om Sions onwil schreit,
Kyrie Eleison |
