Description: | Richard A. Crosby (b. 1957) — Flourish, op. 3 (1984) for organ
Richard A. Crosby (b. 1957) holds degrees in music education (BM), piano performance and wind conducting (MM), and piano performance (DMA) from the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music. His CD “An American Portrait” featured piano works by late 19th and early 20th century American composers. Since 1986, he has been a member of the music faculty at Eastern Kentucky University where he has taught piano and music history. As a composer, he has written solo instrumental, vocal, choral, chamber, and wind ensemble music.
“Flourish” was written in 1984 for the wedding of the composer’s sister. Crosby cites inspiration from Marcello, Elgar, and Walton in this festive, ceremonial piece. |
