Description:
Adolf Friedrich Hesse was born 1809 in Breslau, became organist there in 1830 and was one of the important German organ players, with great success also in Paris and London for his virtuos pedal technique.

Lemmens went to Breslau to study with Hesse. This is the essential link by which the French school of organ playing (Guilmant, Widor, Dupré) claimed to teach the true style of JS Bach. IMHO, however, there is only weak evidence for a chain from JSB to Hesse. He died in Breslau in 1863.
